Sarsaparilla is a South American prickly climbing plant, the large aromatic root of which is traditionally known to treat skin conditions.
It is a cleanser ; it induces perspiration and elimination of wastes through urine and faeces ; it is effective for the elimination of urea, uric acid, and cholesterol, and it is an antifungal.
Its main uses are for chronic skin conditions such as acne, eczema, psorisis, inflammatory joint problems such as gout and rheumatism, and for treating the consequences of infection.
Sarsaparilla is useful in cases of PMT, due to its progesterone like effect.
