Salmon oil is valuable for its high content in two fatty acids : EPA and DHA (ekosapentaenoic and docosahexaenoic acids).
EPA and DHA protect against cardiac troubles and improve the glandular nervous and enzymatic functions : believed to be the reason why Eskimos do not suffer from cardiac diseases.
EPA is a precursor of type 3 prostaglandins, so important for the well-being of the circulatory system, while DHA is an indispensable constituent of cell membranes, especially of the brain and for the retina.
Salmon oil is therefore useful for the protection of heart and blood vessels, facilitating blood circulation, combatting cellular ageing and imbalances in the metabolism.
