Pharmacological studies have demonstrated the regulatory action of fumitory on the biliary flow and have corroborated its reputation as a purifier.
Alkaloids such as propine and fumarine, flavonic compounds, and aliphatic acids act together as an ampho-choleretic : that is to say fumitory controls the biliary flow by increasing or diminishing it according to need.
Fumitory is therefore useful in cases of biliary disorders ans consequences such as migraine, headaches, giddiness, nausea, indigestion, and in cases of gall stones.
